We are currently seeking a Postal System Mechanic, to work under supervision to perform maintenance and repairs to all types of mechanical and electro-mechanical mail handling, mail processing and related equipment. The successful candidate will: • Conduct preventative and system maintenance • Read and interpret basic schematic, blueprints, and specifications • Assist in and perform trouble shooting as required • Perform installation and removal of equipment as required • Perform adjusting, repair and overhaul work on mail handling, mail processing and related equipment as breakdowns occur • Ensure equipment is operating effectively and efficiently. • Plan and organize their daily activities • Communicate effectively • Complete documentation • Exercise physical effort in lifting heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs) and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions including cramped spaces, heights and other awkward positions. Job requirements (Education and Work experience): Education: • Completion at minimum of a 2 year post-secondary program in a mechanical or electro-mechanical field. DEP in Quebec. (These trades/programs could include industrial mechanic, machinist, automotive mechanic, welder, metal fabricator and plating, sheet metal worker, millwright or pipefitter, mechanical technician/ technologist) Certifications: • Red Seal certification or journeyman status in any of the above fields is an asset. Experience: • 2 years experience in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems and equipment. Other information about this job: • You will be required to pass a pre-employment test, a security screening, and an interview. • Some travel maybe required.
