If you have the talent and drive, consider a fast-moving career with Canada Post. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Postal Clerk to provide postal services to customers of the postal station.
Note: Applicants residing in a 50 km radius are preferred. |
The successful candidate will: • Transfer incoming mail to letter carriers for delivery • Determine class of mail, weigh mail, collect postage required and accept parcels for mailing • Accept mail for registration and complete the necessary records • Sell postage stamps, money orders and other postal values • Cash postal money orders • Accept and record payments of government annuities and lock box rentals • Make payments from and accept deposits to post office savings bank accounts • Set postage meters and collect payments for amounts • Hand out mail and obtain signatures of recipients • Provide general postal information to the public • Sort registered, C.O.D. and short paid mail into letter carrier “walks” • Hand registered mail, C.O.D. and items to letter carriers and obtain their signature to confirm receipt • Record, safeguard and control the delivery of registered and C.O.D. mail • Sort mail into lock boxes and sort mis-sorted and unsorted mail to letter carrier walks • Balance postal values assigned on credit |
Job requirements (Education and Work experience): • High School Diploma or provincial equivalent (GED) • Ability to apply postal rules and regulations contained in the Postal Guide • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time as well as lift and carry parcels and bundles of letters • Ability to sort mail for two hours a day • Ability to meet deadlines for mail dispatches |
