PROJECT ENGINEER-CALIBRATION/ TRANSMISSIONS
ENGINE DESIGN CONSULTANCY
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer to join the leading powertrain design and development consultancy in the US. In this role you will provide technical and program expertise and mentoring to our client`s Skill Team and Cross-Functional engineering program team activities.
The Calibration and Certification Skill Team provides engine calibration expertise to projects. As Project Engineer, you will:
- Define, plan and perform engine and vehicle calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
- Plan and manage engineering resources according to project requirements.
- Work on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation.
- Support/ensure data quality and writes technical project reports.
- Review project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.
- Coordinate activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.
- Define, execute and support engine performance and emissions research and development activities.
- Support customer meetings.
To succeed as Project Engineer, you will have the following qualifications and skills:
Experience and Education:
4 years experience in area of expertise
Bachelor`s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
Technical:
Identify, initiate, and support opportunities for technology development, process improvements, tool development, and knowledge capture and re-use.
Familiarity with regulatory and market segment requirements and end-user expectations
Calibration and development experience with one or more of the following engine types:
Compression ignition engines
Spark-ignited direct injection (NA or turbocharged)
Spark-ignited PFI engines
- Independent functionality in one or more of the following areas:
Base engine calibration (steady-state and transient)
Fuel system development and calibration
Turbocharging and EGR system development and calibration
Vehicle and/or engine emissions calibration and optimization to meet regulatory standards.
Vehicle and/or engine cold start and environmental correction calibration.
Vehicle development trip support for hot weather, cold weather and high altitude.
Vehicle driveability and feature calibration
Torque model and torque path calibration
OBDII and diagnostic development and calibration
Exhaust aftertreatment calibration for diesel DPF, DOC, SCR systems
Working experience with some or all of the following tools:
Etas INCA
ATI Vision
Vector CANape, CANalyzer
AVL Drive
AVL Cameo
AVL Concerto
Mototron MotoTune/MotoHawk
Relational:
Working effectively with customers and other program staff and team members
Accountability for individual and team delivery
Active pursuit of personal and departmental improvement
Effective communication with all levels of the program team
Commercial:
Support the Business Development process for specific clients.
Efficient on time delivery of program expectations with consistently high feedback.
Active involvement in Annual Review and Work Planning Process.
