Marie Curie FP7 People EID PhD/ Early Stage Research Studentship

Modelling Cardiovascular Safety- Target Engagement Exposure

University of Warwick -School of Engineering

The aim of this project is to build a combined mathematical picture of cardiovascular parameters (QT, HR and BP) and their translation between in vitro, in vivo and clinical outcomes. The work will involve (1) quantification of exposure effect relationships for individual cardiovascular parameters in preclinical species and man for reference agents with different mechanisms-of-action, (2) development of translational system pharmacology framework to describe, explain and predict the cardiovascular (side) effects in preclinical and clinical species by separating drug- and system-specific parameters, (3) incorporation of the mechanism-of-action (in vitro observations on multichannel inhibition) into translational systems pharmacology models. The aim of this work is to define the optimal approach to accurately predict the risks for cardiovascular safety in clinical studies.
Awards available: 1 award available
Funding DetailsThe successful applicant will receive a stipend of £46,000 per annum over three years.
Length of Award: 3 years
