Chief of Party, Mozambique
We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an upcoming multi-year Feed the Future (FTF) USAID-funded program in Mozambique. This project will increase the agricultural productivity of smallholder farmers, create market linkages and improve the competitiveness of the following value chains: oilseeds, pulses, horticulture and cashews. Anticipated activities include promoting the use of improved agricultural technologies and inputs, improving access to agricultural finance, strengthening public-private partnerships and building the capacity of local organizations and business development service providers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- technical leadership in one or more key program focus areas, as listed above
- supervision of all international consultants and local project staff
- quality control and timeliness of all deliverables
- preparation or supervision of work plans, financial, logistical and other documents
- review of all financial and logistical information on a periodic basis
- recommendation and evaluation of proposed staff
- serving as principal liaison with USAID staff, institutions and client country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships
- verbal or written presentations to varied audiences as requested
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
- demonstrated expertise and a minimum of 15 years’ experience in managing large (at least $10 million), complex value chain or agri-business projects, with experience in production, agricultural economics, market intelligence or a related field
- a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a COP, Project Director or similar senior management position for projects with similar magnitude and complexity in developing countries
- excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- demonstrated ability to be collaborative across projects, flexible and creative
- strong communications and interpersonal skills with shown ability to productively interact with a wide range of organizations (government, private sector, NGOs and research institutions)
- master’s degree in agricultural economics, economics, or other value-chain-related field or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant agricultural field
- fluency in English and Portuguese required
