Description


The primary purpose of this role is to increase the understanding and awareness of Water.org’s models and results. S/he leads the development of an integrated program of events, tools, publications, and services to drive peer-to-peer learning across Water.org’s network of partners and the WASH sector. Success in this position requires strengths in strategic planning and day-to-day execution, tool development, technical writing, forum or event planning, network development, communications and marketing (B2B or industry). This position is a critical component to the organization’s global advocacy strategy, which is designed to strengthen Water.org’s WaterCredit programs, scale the model within the sector, and forge partnerships with potential collaborators.
This position will report to the Director of International Programs based in Kansas City, MO and work closely with members of the International Programs team to mine program data/results, develop content, and coordinate programs across Water.org’s network of partners. This person will also work closely with the Sr. Information and Evaluation Manager and the Director of Strategic Initiatives. This individual will be expected to represent Water.org to senior level partners and to broad external audiences. Travel to areas where Water.org operates will be required.
Major responsibilities include the following:
Lead overall development, growth and success of Water.org’s learning platforms and learning-based strategy, including new methods of online engagement for partner and non-partner organizations throughout the developing world in conjunction with the International Programs, Marketing/Advocacy, and Office of the CEO teams
• Design and foster a strong network/community among Water.org partners around the world
• Document and disseminate project successes including best and promising practices, case studies and success stories
• Lead the development of learning materials, including WaterCredit toolkits and case studies, in conjunction with Water.org staff and contracted third parties
• Manage design of Water.org’s WaterCredit website (www.watercredit.org) and curate new content regularly
• Lead the design, branding, planning, and execution of in-country WaterCredit Forums and stakeholder engagement sessions in close collaboration with International Programs colleagues in the US and in local offices
• Lead marketing of new learning materials and information through Water.org’s existing channels with a goal of identifying and expanding into new channels and external networks
• Present key results and lessons to major donors, at public events, and through selected written publications
• Design and develop a newsletter targeting Water.org’s network of partners



Qualifications


Qualifications
Experience developing or supporting communities of practice or networks
• Expertise in technical writing and content development
• Experience in organizing and implementing events and conference forums
• Ability to network and facilitate strong working relationships between partners.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for a variety of mediums and excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Branding and/or marketing experience in the B2B or in a specific sector
• Demonstrated record of outstanding academic and career achievement
• Background in project management, international development, learning platform creation, social media, writing
• Excellent verbal and written communications, management, leadership, teamwork, networking, and problem solving skills
• Strong computer literacy, including MS Office packages and graphic design
• Strategic thinking, creativity, good judgment, initiative, attention to detail, and professionalism
Requirements
At least ten years of relevant experience in developing learning materials and platforms
• Experience working with international donors and with local partners and collaborators in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and South/Southeast Asia required
• Knowledge of water/sanitation and microfinance sectors in developing countries preferred
• Project management experience highly desired
• Knowledge of foreign languages preferred
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree required
• Must be willing to travel up to 25%
• US citizenship or an H1-B work visa required
