A research associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious process engineer to undertake research in the field process characterisation and scale up of monoethylene glycol reclamation as part of the Multiphase Processing Group: (http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/p.martin). The post is for a fixed period of 12 months and will involve close collaboration with an industrial partner. The University of Manchester and Cameron have embarked on a ten year collaboration centered on a £1m pilot plant donated to the university by Cameron. It is expected that there will be the possibility of extending this appointment after the initial appointment period.
You are expected to have a PhD or equivalent experience in chemical engineering or a similar discipline. Experience in pilot plant operation, process characterisation, control and scale up are key requirements. Knowledge and understanding of sedimentation, crystallisation and separation processes are highly advantageous. You should be also capable of working under your own initiative, but also be a team player with strong management skills to lead PhD students, to work for and with the group, as well as to collaborate with the industrial partner. The ability to work to strict deadlines along with excellent communication, organisational and multitasking skills is therefore essential.
