Postdoctoral Research Assistant - Flatworm Regeneration University of Oxford -Department of Zoology South Parks Road, Oxford


Grade 7: £29,541 - £36,298 with a discretionary range to £39,649 p.a.
An 18 month position, in the first instance, is available to work With Dr Aziz Aboobaker at the Zoology Department in Oxford. The group uses planarian flatworms and other invertebrate model systems to study regenerative biology, ageing and associated evolutionary questions. We will attempt to answer key outstanding questions surrounding the basic mechanisms and the evolution of ageing in relation to the biology of pluripotent stem cells that are ubiquitous in this fascinating group of animals.
The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their own research careers, secure fellowship funding in their own right and be expected to perform highly competitive world leading research. The main tasks will be to perform functional genomic research making full use of the flatworm system and with a willingness to collaborate with labs working with mammalian models. Previous experience with developmental techniques and/or flatworms his highly desirable. Candidates should have or be about to complete in the next year a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area.
