ABA ROLI is a non-profit program that implements legal reform programs in roughly 60 countries around the world. ABA ROLI has nearly 700 professional staff working abroad and in its Washington, D.C. office. ABA ROLI’s host country partners include judges, lawyers, bar associations, law schools, court administrators, legislatures, ministries of justice and a wide array of civil society organizations, including human rights groups.
JOB SUMMARY
The ABA Rule of Law Initiative is seeking a dynamic professional for a position as a Development Temp. The individual will work with senior staff to help coordinate efforts to obtain outside funding to support international rule of law development programs. ABA ROLI seeks funds from U.S. government agencies, foreign governments, foundations, corporations, law firms and individual donors. The position requires a commitment of 37.5 hours/week through August 15, with the possibility of an extension beyond that date and/or conversion to regular employee status.
RESPONSIBILITIES

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor grant funding opportunities from governmental sources in the U.S. and abroad, as well as foundations.
- Maintain database of contacts.
- Conduct research on potential donors, both governmental and private (e.g., corporations, foundations, high net worth individuals).
- Work with program staff to conduct briefings for actual and potential donors.
- Coordinate with the Director of Outreach and Communications to plan outreach and fundraising events.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications and/or business development.
- At least three years of related work experience.
- Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with donors of international development programs is preferred, as is a proven track record of increasing and or diversifying funding in an NGO setting.
- Knowledge of international affairs, and familiarity with democracy and governance promotion efforts are highly desirable.
